Siglavik and Miklavik are two tiny neighbouring communities about 5km south of Gimli. I saw those two interesting Viking boats on my way to Gimli, so I decided to stop by and have a look. While I was taking photos of those Viking ships, a senior approached me. He went to his mail box first to get his newspaper, and then came toward me and introduced he is Willie, the builder of those two Viking ships!!! One ship is named “Siglavik”, and the other “Siclavik”. He said those two words are Icelandic and explained their meanings. Something “big boat”?!?! ò.ó Can’t remember exactly now…
The plaque below the ship sculpture states: “Dedicated in Honor of Willie & Donna-Mae Arnason “Builders” and Arni Jakobson “First Born”.
