When & Where: Mt. Fuji Winter Illumination
Date & Time: Dec 1 to Jan 31 from 17:00 to 20:00
Place: Oishi Park (大石公園) at the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi
* It is possible to get to Oishi Park by riding on a local bus; however, you have to plan your time right in order to see the winter illumination. The last local bus leaves Kawaguchiko Station 河口湖駅 around 17:00. Therefore, you have to catch the same bus back!!! Otherwise you will have to take taxi home.
Oishi Park is one of the middle stops along the bus route; it’s not the last bus stop. What I did for my trip was to take the last bus leaving Kawaguchiko Station around 17:00 and get off at Oishi Park bus stop. While the bus continued its course to its last stop, I had about 10 to 15 minutes window of time to take photos of Christmas lights in Oishi Park. When the bus returns from the last stop on its way back to the Kawaguchiko Station, I took the same bus back to the Kawaguchiko Station.
