Mount Baker, elevation 10781 ft (3286 m), is the second-most thermally active crater in the Cascade Range after Mount Saint Helens. The active crater is named Sherman Crater. This volcano can be seen as far from Vancouver on clear sunny days. There are many hiking trails around Mount Baker. One of the popular hiking choices is located in the Heather Meadows of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, in Whatcom County, Washington, USA. Heather Meadows is a valley between Mount Baker (west) and Mount Shuksan (east). Artist Ridge Trail in Heather Meadows is a great trail to view both mountain peaks, and the trail culminates at the Artist Point.
