Grande Prairie Light Painting

December 14, 2013: Clear night sky at Centre 2000 with a hope to see some meteors and fireballs during the Geminid meteor shower that peaked tonight.

I went out to see the Geminid meteor shower but didn’t see any!!! The Gemini constellation will be on the east side behind Centre 2000 at 11pm. However, even at 30-sec exposure, my camera didn’t spot any meteor or even fireball at all, contrary to the reports that the shower peaked on Dec. 14th with more than 100 meteors per hour. Instead, I ended up doing ball of light painting at Centre 2000. The snow was thick up to my thigh. The temperature was actually quite warm, around -7oC. I sweated quite a bit after the light painting “exercise”.
